Rachel D’Alfanso will be debuting new artwork from her painting series “Still” April 6th at Caffeology for the first First Friday of spring. Still is a painting series exploring the correlation between perceived rest and concealed inner movement. The cafe will be open extended hours and serving drinks and snacks in honor of the event.
All My Friends Are Aliens is Caffeology’s 5th art opening featuring Juli Grygier. Grygier is a new, self-taught artist from Buffalo, NY. Her high contrast art blends elements of surrealism with the self-deprecating humor of every day life. Her inspiration spans from the fragility of the human condition to the absurdity of receiving your first dick pic. This will be her first public display, celebrating a year long process of learning and experimentation with beginning art. Seven portraits of makeup artist Lisarie Martin will also be featured, exhibiting makeup looks inspired by seven of Juli’s pieces.
About Lisarie Martin: Makeup constitutes a dichotomy within Lisarie; a creative and inspired experience while simultaneously feeling petrified and overwhelmed by the vastness. At 25 Lisarie has found her artistic tool and not put it down. Her looks vary from original approaches to familiar recreations. There is more to come.
Nikayla Brown will be displaying her first solo show The Witch and Circumstance opening at Caffeology (23 Allen St.) on February 2nd. Nikayla's work is a collection of illustrations from an in progress picture book depicting a darker variation of the children's rhyme, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly. She will also be displaying semi-fictional drawings dealing with the theme of forced emotions and nonchalant lifestyles. There will be live music by Nate Malinowski as well as seasonal coffee and espresso drinks served till 9pm.
Join Christina and Saffi for first Friday at Caffèology. Christina will be selling her ceramics, Saffi will be selling her photography.
There will be art available for all budgets, as low as $2.50. What a better way to spend that extra Christmas cash! Order your favorite hot beverage from your friendly barista, and give our art some love.
This is a kid and family friendly event.
